How we got started....
We aren't a breeding kennel here at 111 Danes (also known as Dru-Cliff). We just happen to be owned by a few GREAT great danes who happen to be wonderful show dogs.
Great Danes came into our lives with a singleton pup bred by Don & Penny Mikeman of Dagmar Great Danes. His call name was "Gunner". We tried our hand at showing "Gunner" a few times and somehow decided one is not enough so when his parents were re-bred we welcomed "Duncan" into our home. "Duncan" was named after San Antonio Spurs player Tim Duncan. We knew that he'd become an athlete in his own right someday. Dane #3 entered our lives when our breeder, Penny Mikeman told us she was going to Oklahoma to breed Pinki (Gunner & Duncan's mother) to their sire's half-brother. We grinned and asked Penny if she'd consider us for a 3rd dane. In seconds flat we were first in line for a boy. We named him Trey (what else would you name your 3rd boy).
Then in early 2003, Penny dropped off a little brindle package at our house and we aptly named him Trooper. Trooper was a nephew to Duncan as he was out of Duncan's brindle sister, Sabrina. Sabrina & Trey had the same mother too so he was a half-nephew of Trey's.
2005 brought us the most horrific of losses with the killing of our boys by persons unknown who poisoned them. However, our dear friend Steve Arnold brought us a beautiful bundle of joy named "Fame" and then found Lena in need of a new show home. Soon after we also had a new show puppy girl and named her "Keely"... she is quickly earning her championship points from the puppy class and so our story continues.
